Rutland Water
By Claire Webster
Rutland Water is the largest man-made lake in the UK. It attracts a variety of tourists and one of the most famous attractions is the old church at Normanton that juts out on its own little peninsular. Visitors can pursue all kinds of activities. There's a butterfly centre which is great if it's rainy, or on a fine day in the summer you can take a trip round the kae on the Rutland Belle. You can hire a bike and cycle all the way round, mostly on safe cycle paths. Alternatively there's windsurfing and sailing. It's popular with birdwatchers too as a number of rare breeds visit to nest. It's well serviced with toilets and cafes, and it's a pleasant spot just to sit and watch the world go by. |

I like this little intel on Rutland. We have a Rutland where I live in British Columbia, Canada. I often wondered why they called it by that name. I will be following you.
